UISAC is product of 2006 initiative of support program for Asian American refugees brought to the Carolinas for resettlement by agencies working directly with international agency (UNO) and WHO, Carolinas Asian American Chamber of Commerce as host organization was dealing with refugees from Cambodia, Burma, Montagnard, Vietnam and now Bhutan/Nepal, we have worked tirelessly to create partnerships and collaboration for all ages support as the resources were limited and due to lack of process we just started give away bag of grain and food items for those newly arrived but over the time found that the agencies who brought refugees supported families and individuals only for 90 days and post 90 days they were on their own.
The impact of the above process made many fails and give up by suicide action and mental health issues with increase in addiction, unlawful lifestyle, domestic violence and worsening life conditions like homelessness and neglect of children and seniors including increase in divorce and growth in single parent families. we started seeking partnership with Genesis project, MHA, CMPD, CMS, CPCC, UNCC, NCDHHS, AARP, FBI, USCIS, City of Charlotte, Meck County, Federal and State Government Agencies, Nonprofits like LAC, International House, Jewish Temple, Mecklenburg Ministries, Temples, Churches and Mosques including Charter schools.
This forced birth of (UISAC) UNIVERSAL INSTITUTE FOR SUCCESSFUL AGING OF CAROLINAS 2011 we filed for 501C3 certification and were awarded approval in 2012, currently actively working in many areas with 6-POINT program with all same partners, with larger impact and better results, UISAC is also engaging in process of impactful system change for updated crisis solutions like COVID and conflicts in African countries, Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Gaza.
